I have been a lover of rose gold since I was very small. My mum informs me that when I was five or six I got hold of her jewellery box and wanted to wear her rose gold bracelets around the house for days, needless to say I don't think she was too keen on that idea, but since then i've loved the look of it. I don't like the look of yellow gold and never have really. I just don't think it suits my skin tone, i'm very fair and have reddish hair so it doesn't look particularly attractive. I own mostly silver and white gold jewellery as rose gold has been hard to come by and can be expensive, but i'm very happy that there has been an explosion of rose gold items on the market recently, as i'm immediately drawn to anything that has a slight tinge of the copper colour.
Last year a finally got my hands on Rage by Orly, a really pretty rose gold nail polish, i'd seen it reviewed in various youtube videos and articles online and was desperate to find it.
I'd pretty much given up on finding it without having to get it shipped at some ungodly cost from the States, but fortune favours the patient apparently because I eventually got my hands on the smaller bottle in Boots (The Mall (Cribbs Causeway) in Bristol), it was a tad pricey for such a small bottle £5.99 I believe, however I do have one of those wonderous Advantage cards and got it with my points, but I would have bought it either way because I LOVE IT! It's a gorgeous colour, it needs two coats really to get the full effect but I think its lovely. Nice for Autumn especially.
So continuing on a theme, my most extravagant purchase of late has to be my Michael Kors chronograph rose gold bracelet watch...eeep. Yes this was expensive, I paid £200 from Harvey Nichols, I believe Beaverbrooks and Asos retail it at £199, but what's a pound difference really? I have money saved from working for a year between university courses and this is the only purchase i've made from that money so I feel I can justify it! Plus am I in love with this watch. I had been searching for a rose gold watch for the best part of last year, but nothing had really caught my eye until I saw this one (its MK5128 if anyone was wondering), I love oversized items and I know its a large watch face and its pretty heavy which might put people off but I love that, it feels solid. It's just so pretty! I may be slightly obsessed.
It's 38mm in diameter and water resistant up to 100 metres which is good to know although I doubt I would risk getting it splashed! So yes i'm extremely pleased with this watch, i've had a few months now and its worn well, no tarnishing so far which a few people seem to have issue with, i'm quite careful about what I wear it with and how I store it though. I would definitely say to anyone to look at the Michael Kors watches, they are all really nice, and I recently went into a Fossil store and have to say I was quite impressed with some of their rose gold watches as well, which are a lot cheaper if you don't want to spend quite so much! Fossil also have some really lovely jewellery at the moment if watches aren't your thing. (Also please don't think i'm bragging, I saved for a long time to buy this watch and i'm a huge believer in working for what I own...plus for the most part i'm shopping in Primark!)
I've seen a lot of rose gold jewellery about as well, particularly in Accessorize and on Asos, I must say Marc Jacobs has some really nice pieces at the moment...not that my budget will stretch to that sort of price range. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for rose gold jewellery on the high street because I just love it! Does anyone else share my obsession?
